Room to Rise is the result of a multi-year collaboration between the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Walker Art Center, the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston, and The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles.
Treated as individuals with much to contribute, teen participants become involved co-creators of museum experiences rather than passive recipients of information or educational services. Immersed in art, surrounded by a diverse peer group, and doing authentic work in a nurturing environment that motivates them to succeed, they become problem solvers, decision makers, and community builders—qualities they carry forward into adulthood.
